Salisbury Plain Area Mountain Biking
January 7th Sunday
This ride was not run in 2006 due to access difficulties, but they normally have a turn out of about 400. On the north side of the plain through the military restricted area, 'open rolling grassland' countryside. You have to leave your tank at home this weekend, either mountain bike, or cross bike is fine. Paths are of easy technical standard (weather can be windy). Burn off those X-mas calories.

Audax - Jack & Grace Cotton memorial ride
January 13th Saturday
104km starting from Almondsbury, turn out of about 100.
Ride through lanes towards Gloucester and back, roughly east of the M5 in an elongated loop.

Hell of North Cotswolds
April Sunday 10th?
Mountain bikes, or cross-bike, fairly straightforward terrain, 1/3 on road, 1/3 on farm tracks, 1/3 on trails. 100 km, 6 hours is a reasonable time. 1000 riders, mass start.
Starts in Winchcombe secondary school, north of Cheltenham.
Start in the middle of the field to see the spectacle of 500 riders in front & 500 riders behind, or start at the front of the field to avoid the inevitable bottleneck at the first long off-road climb.
